ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) - An Elida High School teacher, along with two graduating seniors, has enlisted to serve in the United States military.
Health and physical education teacher Angela Woolbright reenlisted and was sworn in to serve in the U.S. Army. Woolbright previously served in the Army from 2001 to 2008 before returning home to raise her son with her husband. Elida seniors Michael Shrider and Bailee Block enlisted and were also sworn in today to serve in the Army and the active-duty Army, respectively. After the ceremony, the three recruits spoke with us about their decision to serve their country.
“Now that our son has grown and away, it's now my time to go back and put that uniform back on, serve my awesome, amazing country, and under a president that I highly, highly respect,” says Angela Woolbright, Elida HS Teacher sworn into United States Army.
“It means a lot, like, me getting out and doing what I want to do for myself. Like, our lives are just starting, and this is the first big step for me and for others who want to do something greater than just themselves and that's why I’m joining the army,” says Michael Shrider, Elida Senior sworn into United States Army.
“It's just, for me, being able to say that I’m bigger than something than just myself and being able to help others and do something I love while doing it,” says Bailee Block, Elida Senior sworn into the United States Active Duty Army.
All three recruits will undergo basic training over the next several months.
