LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Math can sometimes have a bad stigma to it, but for Liberty Arts Magnet School, it can be a game.
Family math night had parents and their kid’s learning math through games and activities. By hosting this event, it shows that math can be a fun experience. By having nearly 15 different stations, families traveled from classroom to cafeteria to learn more about mathematics. Each station also had a recommended age range, so kids could feel comfortable, yet challenged, at each activity. Not only was this event educational for the kids, but for the parents as well.Â
"We're learning a different style than when some of us were children and so, for them to come out and see how their students are learning math nowadays so they can help them at home, and again, we are giving them some materials to take home, some games they can take home to play with their kids as well," says David Haberman, principal of Liberty Arts Magnet.
By having a math night, the parents can see how much math has evolved since their education and be there to support their children through learning.
