LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Members of the Lima community gathered to celebrate a golden milestone for Father David Ross.

A celebration was held at Saint Rose School to mark the 50th anniversary of Father Ross’s ordination as a priest. Hundreds of friends and family attended to honor the Lima native. Ross, who attended Saint Gerard School and graduated from Lima Central Catholic, became a priest in 1975. Over the years, he has served in several parishes across Northwest Ohio. Despite his many assignments, he says he feels blessed to serve in his hometown.

Fr. Ross honored for five decades of faithful service to the Catholic Church and community

“I've been very fortunate. The Bishop would send me down here. I guess I did a decent job at some places, and I was able to come back. My parents were in their declining years, and so I sort of begged the bishop and cashed in all my chips and said, Please, let me go back to Lima take care of my parents and he agreed. So, this has been a wonderful. It's been a wonderful gig, for lack of a better term. It actually just seemed like it was ordained yesterday over at St. Gerard. And the last 50 years have been remarkable. And actually, I tell people I'm Looking forward to the next 50 years,” said Father Ross.

Now 50 years into his ministry, Ross shows no signs of slowing down. He currently serves as pastor of Saint Rose and Saint John the Evangelist parishes and is also the director of community engagement at Lima Central Catholic.
