DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) — All that glitters is gold at the Delphos Senior Citizens Center as the organization celebrates 50 years of service to area residents.

Seniors were invited to a celebration Friday afternoon that featured entertainment from the Jefferson show choir. Staff members say they are dedicated to serving older adults because they want to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Half a century of service: Delphos Senior Citizens Center Honors Milestone

Seniors were invited to a celebration Friday afternoon that featured entertainment from the Jefferson show choir.

Thanks to support from Allen and Van Wert County Senior Services, as well as funding from the United Ways, grants and contributions from area seniors, the agency is able to continue offering essential services and activities for Delphos residents.

“Our main service is medical transportation, and that is huge. That takes most of our time. We also have a chore service, which so right now we're mowing lawns. We have outreach to help people choose Medicare plans, and we have all kinds of activities like this going on all throughout the week,” says Alice Curth, director of the Delphos Senior Citizens Center.

To help honor the work of the transportation service, students at Vantage Career Center created a decorative bus cutout to place in the center’s flower bed.
