LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Students at Heritage Elementary School got a special treat after their Veterans Day program when they headed outside to see “Half-Pint,” a small tank from the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center.

The tank has visited the school for several years, giving students a glimpse of what is made locally in Allen County that is used by military personnel around the world.

The tank has visited the school for several years, giving students a glimpse of what is made locally in Allen County that is used by military personnel around the world.

“Half-Pint is half scale of the main battle tank for our military,” said Britt Munson, Half-Pint operator with the Freedom Flag Foundation. “It’s all part of our foundation, our Freedom Flag Monument, the flag that’s out in front of JSMC at the tank plant.”

During the visit, Half-Pint distributed T-shirts and stress balls to the students. The mini tank also makes appearances in parades across the region.
