LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Improvements to senior-owned homes are underway in Lima as 6th Ward Councilman Derry Glenn continues his mission to support elderly residents through the “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” program.
On 3rd Street, one home recently received a much-needed set of storm doors, replacing worn and outdated ones. Meanwhile, sidewalks at another senior’s home on Weadock Avenue have been repaired to improve safety and accessibility.

The initiative, led by Glenn, is aimed at assisting senior citizens who are unable to complete home repairs on their own.
“I am truly blessed,” said homeowner Julia Sanks. “You know, one thing about it—God don’t come when you want Him, but He’s just right on time.”
Glenn emphasized that the program is not limited to just residents of the 6th Ward.
“Elderly people have different things in the community they need done, and you don’t have to be in the Sixth Ward—it’s for everybody,” Glenn said. “We’re hoping that by continuing to show our hometown pride here in Lima, we can keep helping our elderly neighbors.”
Glenn also announced that construction of a ramp for another senior homeowner is scheduled in the coming weeks.
Residents aged 65 and older in need of home repairs are encouraged to contact Glenn to see if assistance is available. Donations to support the initiative can be made through the Lima Community Foundation by contributing to the “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” fund.
