LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima Fire Department responded to a house fire shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday amid reports that children might be inside.

Lima home destroyed by fire, no injuries to residents reported

Firefighters arrived to find flames on both the first and second floors of the residence. According to scanner traffic, there were concerns that two children could be inside. However, after a thorough search, no one was found in the home. The mother later arrived on the scene and confirmed that the children were safe.

Crews extinguished the fire in less than an hour. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze, but the home has been deemed a total loss. One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
