LIMA, Ohio (WLIO)— Now in its third year, the GenNext program through the city of Lima is gaining steam as it continues to prepare the next generation of the local workforce.
The program connects individuals ages 16 to 24 with paid summer internships in fields they are interested in pursuing. Participants must register for pre-employment training to take part in the program.
“We have seen four youth go on to permanent employment,” said Amber Martin, Lima’s coordinator of workforce and small business development. “It is part time, but we have seen that permanency grow and positions within our community being filled, and those workforce needs being met.”
