LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A local event aims to empower women to take control of their heart health by providing education and support.

“Lima Women Have Heart” brings together women of all ages and backgrounds to learn about cardiovascular disease. Many attendees have experienced heart-related issues themselves or know someone who has. Organizers say that connecting with others who have faced similar challenges can provide a sense of comfort and a deeper understanding of their own experiences.

Each year, the event highlights a different topic to raise awareness about heart health.

“Lima Women Have Heart” brings together women of all ages and backgrounds to learn about cardiovascular disease.

"This year, we're going to actually have the clinicians talk about case studies, real patients and what happened, and take us through that study, because every woman experiences heart disease or heart attacks differently," said Linda Chartrand, Lima Women Have Heart.

Tickets are $10 and are limited. They can be purchased online by visiting the City of Lima’s website and searching for “Lima Women Have Heart.”
