LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – A local ministry is looking for teens to get involved in its mission to address bullying and violence in Lima and Allen County.

Com_Unity Ministries is inviting anyone between the ages of 10 and 19 to join as “diplomats” in their “Project Lima-25.” Participants are encouraged to make a difference by standing up against bullying and violence or by sharing their own experiences as victims to help stop the cycle.

“But what can I actually say to someone that will maybe make a difference to them and change them? Not only so they don’t bully me, but don’t bully others, and maybe so they stop bullying altogether,” said MaryBlanche Hengstler of Com_Unity Ministries.

Com_Unity Ministries is asking diplomats to attend a meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at the Shelter House on Top the Hill on Cole Street in Faurot Park.

The group will also hold a barbecue fundraiser for their cause on Oct. 5 at AutoZone on Cable Road. The event will be presale tickets only and will feature Sweet Caroline chicken.
