LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – A Perry Township man charged with killing his brother last year has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
Jacob Striff, 24, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of Jeffrey Paxton, 41, in September of 2024. As part of a plea agreement, the murder charge and other related charges were dropped.
The Paxton family objected to the plea deal and wanted Striff to face the original murder charge.

Allen County investigators said an argument between Striff and Paxton led to the shooting. Striff said during his arraignment that Paxton had a screwdriver and that he shot him in self-defense.
Striff is scheduled to be sentenced in September. He faces a possible maximum sentence of 14 years in prison.
