LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Hearing children’s voices, especially in song, is a gift, according to Lima Kiwanis Club President Dr. Willie Heggins. That sentiment was on full display during the club’s recent meeting, which featured a musical performance by Lima City Schools’ Heritage Harmonics.

The show choir, made up of students from Heritage Elementary School, rehearses daily to prepare for performances throughout the community. Their dedication shows, and the students say they enjoy every part of the experience.

“I think of it good because I like singing and dancing and I like doing all of that,” said fourth grader Ava Slater.

“We get a chance each year to have an opportunity to hear the Heritage Harmonics come in and they do such a wonderful job. The club members really enjoy the time period not only to fellowship with our business meeting but also have the opportunity to enjoy Christmas and tunes that make us feel nostalgic about the joys of life and living this time of the year,” Heggins said.

The students also received a surprise visitor — Santa Claus — who listened to their performance and said he was very impressed with the group.
