LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A local union is throwing their support behind Sherrod Brown for November's upcoming senate race.

As part of the statewide "Workers for Sherrod" tour, Lima UA Local 776 hosted labor leaders to talk about how Senator Brown's policies have helped families. He often works with Republicans on legislation aimed at improving the quality of life for Ohioans.

Brown has been involved in legislation to bring chip manufacturing to Ohio, get benefits for veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals during their service, and other bills that lead to better jobs and pay for workers.

"The Infrastructure Act certainly is the one that most people talk about. And the roads and the bridges—they're badly needed here. Sherrod has always supported prevailing wage on projects, which is important to construction workers to make sure the workers get a fair and liveable wage," said Gary McPheron, director of governmental affairs, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 6.
Supporters say that Brown's opponent, Bernie Moreno, is not supportive of unions and overtime expansion. As a business owner, Moreno was also sued by his employees.

"He had not paid overtime pay. He was found guilty of that. He was shredding documents that the court ordered him to keep. Senator Brown has always fought for overtime pay. In fact, he wanted to expand overtime pay for those working over 40 hours a week. And the previous administration, the Obama administration, Sherrod led that effort," states Tim Burga, president of the Ohio AFL-CIO.
Senator Sherrod Brown is up for re-election against Republican Bernie Moreno in this year's general election on November 5th.
