Audit of Shawnee Township shows a failure to collect funds from JSMC

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, OH (WLIO) - A finding for recovery in excess of $100,000 has been issued from the Ohio Auditor to Shawnee Township regarding services provided by the Shawnee Township Fire Department.

In a release from the Ohio Auditor, Shawnee Township failed to invoice and collect funds for fire and ambulance services to the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center. They were in a contract with the JSMC for fire and ambulance services from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2023.

The audit of the township's finances from January 1, 2021, through December 31, 2022, showed that the township did not submit invoices or collect funds for part of the time covered by the contracts, totaling a little more than $107,000. The report states that the township has since submitted all prior invoices to JSMC and is waiting for a response and/or payment.
