The areas finest home brews and wines were put to the test at the Auglaize County Fair this evening.
The Wednesday Homemade Wine and Beer Show drew in as many as 24 wines and 5 beers created from homes around the Auglaize County area. The wines were thoroughly smelled, tasted and examined by wine distributor, Donovan Whitney. Whitney judged wines on their overall taste, complexity, and finish, to name a few. Working alongside the wine connoisseur was Maria Stein’s brewmaster of Moeller Brew Barn, Nick Moeller. Moeller examined each beer based on color, taste, body, bouquet and several other categories.
While the event has grown over the last three years, Lawrence Kill, the Vice President of the Auglaize County Fairgrounds, hopes to see an increase in the number of wine and beer entries when the 2018 Auglaize County Fair comes around.
