WAPAKONETA, OHIO (WLIO) - Auglaize County is hoping to build on a successful 2024 as they move into the new year.
The county commissioners just completed their budget and are looking at continuing the positive sales tax numbers the county has seen the past few years.
The county saw a 3% increase in their sales tax numbers last year. The county commissioners just completed their budget and are looking at continuing the positive sales tax numbers the county has seen the past few years. They are also looking to go after more state grants to do projects in the county, including Brownfield Grants, which help clean up old property for redevelopment.
“We are expecting the state to open another Brownfield round in 2025, sometime in January. So, this month still and we’re ready and positioned to apply again. So, we are hoping to be successful with our 3rd round of Brownfield in 2025 and continue to revitalize those areas that we can using grant funding,” says Erica Preston, Auglaize Co. Administrator.
Also this year, voters in the county will be asked to renew the half percent sales tax on the November ballot, which gets renewed every 10 years.
