The Auglaize County courthouse has received a special award for its renovation project.
The courthouse was awarded the Energy Star Award after its 2012 project made the building 75% more energy efficient than any other courthouse in the region. That project involved new lighting and HVAC systems for the building, making it more energy-conscious. The Energy Star Award is not the easiest honor to earn.
"This is not an easy award to achieve - if you're not doing a major upgrade, you can't get it," said John Albrecht, president of Perfection Group. "There's not many in Ohio that have been done, this is maybe in the top 10 that have been done."
The courthouse can go for the award again next year.
