WAPAKONETA, OH (WLIO) -The lights shined on nine special individuals over at the Wapakoneta Performing Arts Center.
The Wapakoneta Summer Moon Scholarship Pageant celebrating the talent, self-expression, and accomplishments of nine young women. The students from Wapakoneta competed for a scholarship by showcasing their public speaking, performance skills, and personal passions. Throughout the experience, participants built valuable friendships and developed lifelong skills, all while empowering and mentoring young girls. The night concluded with contestant number eight, freshman Kiara Keith, being crowned this year's 2025 Miss Summer Moon Queen.
"This is year five that I've been a part of the Miss Summer Moon Pageant, and I just think it's great to pour into our youth and show them that it's good to be a strong, independent, and confident young woman. Then, making sure that they know that their education is important to us. They're able to have the younger generation look up to them. It gives them confidence in speaking in front of larger groups of people, get them out in the community, and working with others," said Sarah Swaney, Co-Director of Pageant Committee.
The Miss Summer Moon Scholarship Pageant is open to all Wapakoneta High School students in grades 9 through 12.
