WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — We are a week and a half away from America’s 250 anniversary, and people are traveling the state to see what Ohio contributions are to the growth of the nation.

The state is proud of its part in the growth of the air and space programs in the United States, and the Armstrong Air & Space Museum is featured as one of the stops on Ohio’s Air and Space Trail.

The museum not only spotlights the contributions and legacy of Auglaize County’s most famous resident, Neil Armstrong, but space program in general. The museum has seen an increase in visitors as people travel to experience America’s history.

“I think just looking at this museum and all museums across the state, people should really see that there's a great pride in their in their state. They had great contributions to this country and even beyond Neil Armstrong, Ohio's had a a great impact on the formation of our nation and really Ohio is very exemplary in what makes America so special," says Logan Rex, Curator & Communications Director, Armstrong Air & Space Museum.

The museum is also going on the road to promote Armstrong and space exploration and will be offering a new and unique exhibit for visitors this fall.

“So, we've been doing a lot of outreach. We're going into the library programs. They're doing a lot with the America 250 program. We're going to be going to the Dayton Dragon game coming up. And then we're also doing a fall exhibition of some remastered photography that will feature Armstrong and some other photographs that were seldom used by NASA. So that would be exciting and that like I said we'll be in the fall. So a full year of celebration that we'retrying to have here,” adds Rex.

The Armstrong Air & Space Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Admission is $14 for adults and $8 for children ages 6 to 12. The museum also offers special rates for veterans and seniors.
