NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) — An 8-year-old boy from Bluffton had the opportunity of a lifetime after winning the Armstrong Air and Space Museum’s “First Flight” contest.

Hudson Warwick and his family traveled to Neil Armstrong Airport in New Knoxville, where he flew inside a 1928 Ford Tri-Motor airplane. It’s the same type of aircraft as Neil Armstrong first flew in as a young boy back in July 1936. Fittingly, this was also Hudson’s first time ever flying in a plane. Before takeoff, we asked Hudson how he was feeling as he prepared to board the historic aircraft.

"What do you think it will be like when you go up in the sky?" we asked Hudson.

"I don't know. I haven't experienced it," says Hudson Warwick, who is flying a plane for the first time through as "First Flight" winner.

"What do you think it will be like?" we asked Hudson following up.

"Loud and high up," replied Hudson.

We also captured the moment Hudson took off from the runway, joined by his dad and little brother inside the plane. They were there to support Hudson as he lived out his dream of flying high in the sky. After the 15- to 20-minute flight, we followed up with Hudson to hear what it was like to get off the ground and soar through the air.

“Like, I felt really good and my first thought was Google Maps. Like, I could just see the clouds. I was like really close to the clouds. I want to be... I want to fly planes," Hudson shared with us after his flight.

To commemorate the experience, Hudson received a certificate marking his first-ever airplane ride.
