COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) - Nearly 200 volunteer fire departments across Ohio will be receiving funding to better their services. Six of our surrounding counties are benefiting from this eight-million-dollar statewide grant.
Auglaize County will be receiving nearly 260 thousand dollars in awards, covering 6 different departments. Hardin county will be receiving over 109 thousand dollars, aiding in three different departments within the area.
Logan County will receive funding for four departments by getting 193 thousand dollars. Mercer county will be gaining over 164 thousand dollars for four departments.
Since Putnam County has nine different fire departments, they will be gaining over 420 thousand dollars, with the total split pretty even throughout each group. Lastly, Van Wert County will be receiving 100 thousand dollars even for two fire departments.
This nonrenewable grant makes it possible for these small county fire departments to purchase equipment, upgrade facilities, and have better access to firefighting training.Â
