ST. MARYS, OH (WLIO) - The Columbus-based retailer Big Lots will be closing around 300 stores nationwide. According to their website, there are eight stores closing in Ohio, which include the location in Saint Marys and one in Defiance. Ohio has just over 100 of the nearly 1,400 Big Lots stores around the United States. There have been media reports of lower sales and high debt as possible reasons for the restructuring of the company. Most of the stores closing are in the western United States, with California, Arizona, and Washington having the largest number of stores closing.
