LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It is getting colder outside and it's time to start thinking about a warm coat and Christmas presents.
Today, the Lima Salvation Army has started accepting applications for their Christmas assistance program and holding their annual coat distribution. They are looking to help around 800 families with the program. Signing up for the program only takes a few minutes, but you will need to bring a few items to qualify.
"What they need to do is bring in their income and expenses, anybody can be eligible, they just have to bring in their income and expenses and if they have children, they have to bring in their IDs, birth certificates for them, and then ID for the adults," says Captain Charity Bender, Lima Salvation Army.
The hours for Tuesday and Wednesday are 9 to 11:30 in the morning and 1 to 3 in the afternoon at the Lima Salvation Army. On Wednesday, they will be taking applications until 6. The Christmas assistance distribution will be on December 21st. The Lima Salvation Army is located at 614 E Market St Lima, OH 45801.
