LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima city officials want to make sure residents are aware of a new permitting process for Portable On Demand Storage.

Lima City Council recently passed an ordinance establishing a time limit, size requirement, and placement on a property for the use of PODS in residential areas. Permits will be required starting Thursday, November 10th through the city's building department.

"So we're looking for making sure you're putting it on a stable surface, someplace that's not going to erode if we have a lot of rain," explained Ian Kohli, City of Lima Engineer. "And we're also looking to make sure that, we prefer that you put it to the rear or the side of your principle structure. We understand that some properties you don't have room and it's going to need to go in the front yard."

The permit is $60 for 30 days and you can get an extension for 15 days for an additional $20. A resident can only have two permits per 12 months period. Permits are required for new and existing PODS located in residential areas.
