LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Mercy Health Community Health Impact Team is working to get its name out and recognized by area residents.
On Thursday, they set up shop at Vibe Coffeehouse & Café to share their mission and upcoming events. They have been getting the word out about the importance of cancer screenings and heart health for the past couple of months and are gearing up for more events coming soon. Organizers say they are making a difference.
"I do believe that our impact in the community is allowing people to renew their minds around what it looks like as far as health and wellness as we address health disparities. Sometimes people don't always know who to ask and know what to ask. So I think that's the impact that we're having so that people can see things differently," commented Anisha Pridgen, community health coordinator.
Pridgen says they are working to remove barriers not only about health but also concerning housing and employment, among other issues. They will be focusing on stress awareness in the month of April.
