The "GOOD" Program has become a staple for fourth graders at the school as former teacher Ron Derry educates them about the struggles he faced after becoming blind. Derry taught in the Columbus area and decided to continue working with kids by starting his own motivational program, "Go On—Or Defeated," known as "GOOD," and has encouraged thousands of students across Ohio to make good life decisions.

Twelve students will earn "GOOD" t-shirts during the school year by showing they are living by the "GOOD" principles.

"That's our main theme; we also teach trustworthiness, anti-bullying, visualization, and precision. Those would be the overall themes of the "GOOD" Program. I believe in them very strongly, and I love to work with kids, so that's why I still go out and continue to do what I do," said Ron Derry, "GOOD" Program.

Derry is a long-time Lions member in his community, and the Cridersville Lions Club sponsors the program each year. One of the missions of Lions Club International is to advocate for the blind and visually impaired.
