The Democratic candidate for state auditor appeared at the Women's Club Luncheon in Lima on Thursday.
Taylor Sappington spoke to members about what his campaign represents, and his background when he was treasurer in Nelsonville, where he was able to unearth corruption and get the office out of the red. Sappington also stated that Ohioans need someone that is willing to fight against corruption.Â
"Ohioans deserve leadership that looks like them and knows the struggles and what they come from," said Sappington. "But also, Ohioans deserve good, fair, and honest government. And so as Nelsonville City Auditor, I busted up theft just eight weeks on the job. Biggest theft bust in city history and we not only returned honesty and transparency to the city but once we turned those books around and got the money right, we were able to return that dividend back to the taxpayer."
Sappington says if he's elected, he would like to restore the auditor's office to one that Ohioans can count on. The Women's Club Luncheon was held at Western Sizzlin on Elida Road.
