Demond Jones found guilty, sentenced to life without parole

Life without parole was the sentence handed down in an Allen County courtroom to a man convicted earlier today of murdering an elderly woman in her south side Lima home. An Allen County Common Pleas Court jury took a little more than three hours to find Demond Jones guilty of all charges including aggravated murder, the most serious of the charges.

Jurors determined that back in February of 2010, Jones had beaten Marjorie Williams 17 times with a blunt object, then shot her in the head while burglarizing her home. As Judge Jeffrey Reed was preparing to enter the sentencing phase, there was an outburst by Shirley Williams, the daughter in law of the victim and a profanity laced outburst from Jones.

Williams speaking for the family, did apologize for her outburst and got a chance to talk during the sentencing phase of the trial.

Afterwards she told your news now that Jones should have been put to death.
