LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Hundreds of children will be having a brighter holiday thanks to the generosity of others.
It was distribution day at the Lima Salvation Army for its Christmas Assistance program. Bag after bag, actually more than 560 bags full of toys, being picked up to get wrapped and put under the tree for Christmas. The Salvation Army saw an increase in need this year and those getting the help are thankful.
"Basically I do thank God, for whom is helping this community giving to the next child whom doesn't have a parent to be there for them at the present moment. And to be very much grateful to say thank you in need as well as the next person being there for them when there's no one else to be there for them," said Donna Ingram Terrance, who is taking care of grandchildren.
Families also got a box of food to help with Christmas dinner.
