Dressing down to support those battling cancer leads to a donation from some local government employees.

Employees at Allen County Job and Family Services along with Ohio Means Jobs Allen County paid $1 once a week if they wanted to wear jeans. That all added up to nearly $1,500 that they donated to the American Cancer Society.

"We've all been affected by the terrible disease and so we thought what better way to give back, not only to our community because we are an agency as a whole that tries to service our community the best that we can, but to give back to people who really might need a helping hand is to give that money to the cancer society so that they can help those people who are basically in a fight for their lives," explained Tiffany Russell, Quality Control Review.

"Events like this and fundraisers like this help support our local programs and services that we offer to everybody along with our research, said Alli Hermiller, Community Development Manager at American Cancer Society.

Job and Family Services will remain open on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
