FINDLAY, OH (WLIO) - The Findlay Police Department released the body camera video of the officer-involved shooting that left a teenager dead.

During a media conference Thursday, Chief James Mathias talked about the October 28, 2024, shooting at Bernard Park. He says around 6:30 p.m. that night, officers were called to the park following a complaint that was called in about three teenagers drinking.
When the officers were talking to the teens, officials say 17-year-old Kalvin Darapheth took off running. They say when an officer started running after him, the suspect allegedly fired two shots at him. The officer, whose name has not been released, fired eight shots at Darapheth, hitting him several times. The officers secured the gun. The suspect later died at a Toledo hospital from those injuries. The officers were placed on traumatic incident leave.

Chief Mathias says he's glad his officers were not injured and believes the shooting was justified.
