LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Parents at Lima City Schools get to look behind the scenes of their children's education.
 
            New this year to the district is the Lunch and Learn program for parents to come to their child's school once a month.
New this year to the district is the Lunch and Learn program for parents to come to their child's school once a month and hear from staff about topics like the PBIS system, a tool used to correct negative behaviors, reward positive ones, and track trends among the student body.
 
            School officials say when parents participate in events like this, their children tend to perform better in the classroom.

"We need their support. If we don't have their support, we notice a big difference in students' academics and behaviors. I think when you know what's happening in school and you understand how it works and the different ebbs and flows of it, yes, parents are like, I get it," said Sara Bowsher, social worker at Independence Elementary.
 
            The Lima City Schools use the PBIS system from kindergarten through high school.
