LIMA, OH (WLIO) - On Monday night, the Lima City Council passed the first ordinances of 2025 along with the Lima Police Department providing the council a brief report on their traffic trailer usage.

Additionally, the council unanimously passed legislation for Mayor Sharetta Smith to enter into a contract with Ben's Construction Inc. for the mayor's $1.5 million Better Together Plan of demolishing blighted neighborhood properties.

First, legislation was passed to sell 3 parcels of land located at 1434 S. Union Street, 108 E. 7th Street, and 0 S. Union Street to the Health Partners Foundation. These parcels will be used to construct single-family affordable housing for low-to-moderate-income families. Additionally, the council unanimously passed legislation for Mayor Sharetta Smith to enter into a contract with Ben's Construction Inc. for the mayor's $1.5 million Better Together Plan of demolishing blighted neighborhood properties. Finally, Major Ron Holman with LPD updated the council that the department deployed their 2 all-traffic solution trailers over 30 times in 2024 for speed enforcement, event notification, traffic and construction warnings, and parking instructions. Both trailers worked a combined total of 427 days and tracked over 1.6 million vehicles.

Finally, Major Ron Holman with LPD updated the council that the department deployed their 2 all-traffic solution trailers over 30 times in 2024 for speed enforcement, event notification, traffic and construction warnings, and parking instructions.
