An investment will help Ford produce electric vehicles in the state of Ohio.
The Ford Motor Company announced Thursday plans to invest $1.5 billion into the Lorain County Ford Ohio Assembly plant to assemble all new electric vehicles.
The investment is also projected to create 1,800 new hourly jobs.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine was on hand for the press conference in Avon Lake, stating that the investment is another strong chapter in Ohio's history.
"Our history is that we make things in Ohio, that's what we do," said DeWine. "If you look back, we are an automotive state, we are an automotive parts state, that's our history. But today is about our future, and the future is that manufacturing is now moving in Ohio forward."
Lt. Governor Jon Husted also echoed DeWine's message, stating that the project is a win for Ohio.
"And let's face it, that is what we do in Ohio," said Husted. "We manufacture products, we build things that Americans and American businesses need. So you combine a great business environment we have here in Ohio, and the desire to manufacture more products in America, preparation, has met opportunity, and Ohio is winning again."
