LIMA, OH (WLIO) - FreshnFaded and Team Outreach Lima spent all day Sunday giving back to nursing home residents.
Team Outreach Lima worked to make sure CareCore residents had a good time for Thanksgiving, with bingo in the afternoon and a free meal afterward. The organization also works with the home to adopt residents for Christmas. For FreshnFaded, it's important to make sure the residents aren't alone or forgotten on the holidays and they are thankful for the community's donations of everything they needed to help them help others.
"The community donated food, also with FreshnFaded, the rest of my team, they came in and gave away free haircuts to the residents also. And the community, they always back us with everything, whatever we need," said Leandra Johnson, owner of FreshnFaded.
"These are somebody's aunts, uncles, grandmothers, and a lot of times they get forgotten. We just want to make sure that we give back to them. The smiles on their faces and the embraces when we come out, it's just a blessing, just the feeling of them knowing that somebody cares about them," added Quincy Peoples, the director of Team Outreach Lima.
"A lot of our residents don't have family, and if they do, a lot of them don't come visit. It means a lot when people come in and show them we're still here for you. They were our past, and a lot of times we forget our past. This is a way of showing them and giving back and saying hey, we don't forget," explained Christina Pinn, CareCore's activity director.
On Thanksgiving Day, FreshnFaded will again host the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities for an Ohio State vs. Michigan watch party.
