Golf outing helps raise money for scholarship

An upcoming golf outing will help out students pursuing a career in criminal justice.

The Lima affiliate of the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice along with the Lima Police Department is holding the 10th annual Bonita L. Haynes Golf Scramble on August 26th at the Tamarac Golf Course. The price for registration is 70 dollars for individuals and 280 dollars per team. The money raised for the outing goes to a 500 dollar scholarship to help out criminal justice students - and is a way for the NABCJ to connect to the community.

"It gives us a chance to give back to our community and not only do we give away scholarships, we also help non-profit organizations, we help Crime Victims Services, and I Am Making A Difference, we just try to get involved in our community," said Tanya Wright, a member of the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice.

The deadline to register for the outing is August 19th. The application can be found on the Lima Police Department's Facebook page or contact Kevin Jones at (419) 230-5007.
