The Allen County Family and Children First Council heard from an organization that's helping women and children in the community.

A presentation from Guiding Light Ministries was put on Monday afternoon. Guiding Light is a homeless shelter that gives women and children a place to stay, and gives adults the tools they need to learn how to effectively manage a home of their own and get back on their feet.
A few of the people that once stayed at Guiding Light were also there, to show that there is a chance for anyone to bounce back.

"You hear about all the crazy things that are happening, but there are good things that do happen - people can can get on their feet, they can find hope again, people can do better for themselves and their children, it’s possible," said Jessica Parker, a goal coordinator for Guiding Light.
Guiding Light has two homes available for women to stay in.
