Johnny Appleseed Park District gave people the chance to check out one of their newer parks. The park district held an old fashioned ice cream social at the Lauer Historical Farm park Sunday afternoon. The park district opened the park in 2017 after they restored the house and other buildings on the property, so it can be used for their events and for rentals. While people were able to enjoy some homemade ice cream, they also got the chance to check out the historic location, which also connects to the Ottawa River Walk.
Lauer Farm has a couple of big events coming up this fall. The park district's Apple Festival will be moving to the location in September. In October, they will be transporting people back to 1944 with a World War II battle reenactment and other activities at the park. Log on to www.jampd.com for more information.
