LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Japanese film crew is in Lima to produce a drama about the life of Keiko Hahn, a Lima Sister Cities Association member.

Hahn's life story was documented in a 2023 biography titled War Bride. At age 20, she married an American soldier and moved to Lima to begin a new life. Now in her 90s, Hahn has experienced many challenges and triumphs during her time in Lima. Her lifelong mission has been to foster peace between the United States and Japan.

Hahn's life story was documented in a 2023 biography titled War Bride. At age 20, she married an American soldier and moved to Lima to begin a new life.

"I make dramas; that's my work in Japan. So then we had a request from the company to make this kind of drama. So then I remembered Keiko's life story. Back then she was 91 years old and I wanted to understand her life. So that's why I came to Lima originally," said Ryutaro Kawashima, director of the drama through translator Sharon Beckford.

"I had happy times and good times. Through all these years, I have made so many friends who have accepted me as I am," said Keiko Hahn, whose life story is being resembled in the drama.
