"I've always been very interested in civic affairs, and I've always believed very strongly in the 'think globally, act locally,' and this seemed like an opportunity to do it. I would really like it if the basic image of Lima could be improved. Tonight, they [the city of Lima] reported that crime rates are much lower than they had been, but yet, we all have this vision of Lima as being dangerous and Lima being a place that's dying. It would be very nice if we could totally put that to rest with actual work and with actual action," says Jeannine Jordan, 4th Ward Councilor, Lima City Council.
