JSMC to hire back more than 200 employees

Some employees could soon be heading back to work at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Plant in Lima. Officials there say since 2009, they have steadily been laying off people because of a lack of work. At one point they had about 12 hundred employees, now they are down to just 400.  As the plant starts to do more tank work, they are planning to call back 200 plus employees who were previously laid off.

"We're starting to go up in production rates which we've been waiting on. We're getting a domestic tank back in here. We're doing a foreign military sales in here, so Stryker production is pretty stable but we are adding a 30mm to that and then a NIMR vehicle that we're doing for one of our allies. So all of that said, that means we're starting to come back up in production rates, which will kind of stabilize for the workforce around here," Director of Operations at JSMC, Hank Kennedy said.

They expect the call backs to start in 2017 or 2018.
