An April trial date has been set for a Lima man for a 2023 murder case.
Allen County Common Pleas Court judge Terri Kohlrieser set the jury trial for 23-year-old Michael Oliphant to begin on April 7, 2025. Oliphant is facing murder and felonious assault charges for the death of 59-year-old Kirk Perine.

Lima police detectives say in February of 2023, officers were called out to the 100 block of Rosedale Avenue for reports of a shooting. That's where they found Perine shot to death. Oliphant was found at another location and arrested. He also tried to plead not guilty by reason of insanity, but a psychologist found Oliphant competent to stand trial.
