JOGGING WITH JOHNNY
On Mon., July 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer JOGGING WITH JOHNNY at HERITAGE PARK - VETERANS SHELTER (2092 Reed Rd., Lima, OH). Turn up the heat on your fitness routine and enjoy some fun in the sun with a Johnny Appleseed accountabili-buddy! Join a Naturalist for a warm-up walk and a few laps around the Heritage Park. All ages and abilities are welcome in their fitness journey, whether you consider yourself a seed, a sapling, or cider! Choose a pace that is comfortable for you. DAY CAMP (AGES 5-6) - NATURE DETECTIVES
On Thurs., July 25 and Fri., July 26, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer DAY CAMP – NATURE DETECTIVES at MCLEAN TEDDY BEAR PARK – WHEELER SHELTER (2004 Dixie Hwy., Lima, OH).
Land, Air and Water! Nature is all around us! Join us as we use our senses to find the clues nature is showing us every day! We will be searching the park for different plants and animals and will learn how to use hand lens as we go on a “micro-hike”. Please bring a sack lunch and a water bottle. BEGINNING ARCHERY PROGRAM
On Wed., July 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer its BEGINNING ARCHERY PROGRAM at the ALLEN CO. FARM PARK (1582 Slabtown Rd, Lima, OH).
Participants ages 9 through adult can sign up for the session from 7- 8:00 p.m. Certified archery staff will be on hand to assist beginning archers on the fundamentals of archery. Mathew Genesis bows and all other supplies will be provided by the Park District. Participants in the program must use bows provided. Wear close toes shoes, remove dangling earrings, and tie back long hair. Register by July 22, online at www.jampd.com, or by calling 419-221-1232. (20 Participants per 1 hour block.)
FEEDING DAY
On Thurs., July 25, at 4:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will host FEEDING DAY at the MCELROY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER (2355 Ada Rd., Lima, OH).
The Park District maintains several education animals in the McElroy Environmental Education Center, using them throughout the year for nature presentations and programs. Join the Critter Care volunteers to help (or watch) them clean and feed all our animals at 4 p.m. on the last Thursday of the month!
SUMMER STROLL
On Sat., July 27, at 9:00 a.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer SUMMER STROLL at MCLEAN TEDDY BEAR PARK (2004 Dixie Hwy., Lima, OH).
Come enjoy a mid-summer mix of habitats at beautiful Teddy Bear Park. We’ll amble through successional habitat, stop to enjoy the pond, stroll through the prairie to visit the flowers and walk through the cool shade of the woods. Dress for the weather and ground conditions and be prepared for 1.5 mi. hike on easy to moderate terrain. Register by July 26, online at www.jampd.com or call the office at 419-221-1232.
IMAGINATURE PLAYGROUP
On Tues., July 30, at 10:00 a.m. OR 1:00 p.m., The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer IMAGINATURE PLAYGROUP at HERMON WOODLANDS – WEST SHELTER (485 N. Wapak Rd., Lima, OH).
Come play with us at the Hermon Woodlands Imaginature Playscape! Join a naturalist at the West Shelter for a mini program, then spend the rest of the time playing and exploring in the Playscape and creek.
