"Pioneer Days" are back this year and ready to cap off the summer season. The 4-day event hosted by the Kalida Lions Club and Firefighters kicks off Thursday with great food, carnival-style games, rides, and a variety of live entertainment, all while highlighting the rich history of Putman County. It all wraps up Sunday, but not before one of the largest parades in Northwest Ohio hits the streets of downtown Kalida.

"Raise money for our Fire Department and our Lions Club. For our Fire Department, we buy equipment with it, trucks, and everything we need to keep the community safe and everything we need to operate from a day-to-day basis. The Lions Club uses it to fund projects for things around the town, like our Pioneer Park behind us and our beautiful park right outside of town. They're a charitable organization that gives to a lot of good people," added Derrick Schimmoeller, Senior Pioneer Committee Member.
