Kids Reading to Dogs

A reading program put on through Pet Partners has been paw-tastic for young readers.

Through Paws-to-Read children are paired with a registered therapy dog to read to in a quiet, safe library environment. Reading to therapy dogs creates a positive, non-threatening, fun environment for children kindergarten through second grades who may be struggling or reluctant readers. Dogs don't tease, laugh, or judge and handler Paula Reese says dog Sadie is a great listener. Sadie visits the Wapakoneta library the third Monday of the month and the Cridersville library the third Wednesday of the month. Anyone can save a spot with her just by calling the library.
