Cutting Edge Medical Laser Technologies chose Medical Laser Center of Lima as the location to shoot training videos today. A representative of Cutting Edge, who supplies MLS class four medical lasers, said this Lima location was one of the first to introduce the technology, has a beautiful facility and treats a wide variety of patients. The laser technology is a non-invasive treatment that aims to reduce pain in certain areas and stimulate soft tissue.

"The good thing is we need other patients to understand what's available to them," said Joseph Kenrick, Midwest region vice president for Cutting Edge Medical Laser Technologies. "And we need doctors to understand what's available for them, for referral purposes, to actually find new ways to treat some of their difficult chronic patients without going through surgery, without going through injections."

Kenrick said this treatment is an alternative to being prescribed opioid pain medication and can help combat the crisis.

"Doctors have to lean on opioids," said Kenrick. "What that indicates is that they don't have enough tools in their toolbox to treat many of their patients. So they lean on the opioids. Now there's one more tool in their toolbox and so they don't need to go down that road."

Kenrick added that these treatments are an out-of-pocket expense but he believes it's a better alternative to get out of pain.
