LIMA, OH (WLIO) - One local organization went out just after sunrise this morning to set up a couple of patriotic scenes that honor and salute our area veterans.

Lima Exchange Club shows tribute to local veterans with annual "Flags for Soldiers" project

Lima Exchange Club members say they're glad to offer this service because they know that as the stars and stripes fly, the hearts of our local veterans have been touched.

The Lima Exchange Club hammered stakes into the ground and placed around 50 American flags at Springview Manor and Primrose Retirement Community of Lima. This is part of the "Flags for Soldiers" project they've been doing for around 20 years.

Club members say they're glad to offer this service because they know that as the stars and stripes fly, the hearts of our local veterans have been touched.

The Lima Exchange Club hammered stakes into the ground and placed around 50 American flags at Springview Manor and Primrose Retirement Community of Lima.

"We know that there are many veterans that live in these facilities and really can't get out and do much of anything to celebrate Veterans Day on their own. So, we try and bring the celebration to them by giving them some flags. There have been some great stories of people who have lived in these places over the years who have been literally brought to tears when they see the flags go up," says Mike Mullen, Lima Exchange Club.
