A growing operation was busted after LPD officers smelled the odor of marijuana in the neighborhood.
Two patrolmen were driving around the 1400 block of West High Street and they detected the odor of raw marijuana. The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force was contacted and assisted the officers in getting a search warrant for 1418 West High Street. There they arrested 54 year old Burton Goens II, who was hiding in the basement, along with a grow operation in a hidden room.
30 plants and other equipment was seized. Goens is charged with suspicion of cultivating marijuana, but additional charges could follow. About ten pounds of marijuana was taken off the plants.
