LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A Lima man was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison after being convicted on two counts of rape.

Sonny Cobb, 46, was found guilty of two counts of rape, both first-degree felonies. Crime Victim Services read statements from the two victims in court, detailing years of sexual abuse that began when they were younger than 10 years old.

“I refuse to keep silenced because of the 14 years that I endured just to save your skin. I hope from the deepest pit of my soul that you are sentenced to life, because I’m deathly afraid you’d turn up in my life again otherwise,” a Crime Victim Services court representative read on behalf of one of the victims.

Cobb previously faced 37 additional counts of rape, 17 counts of sexual battery and one count of gross sexual imposition. Those charges were dropped as part of a plea agreement.
