Lima Memorial Picked for a Mentor Program

Lima Memorial Health System will be training surgeons nationwide in how to do robotic hernia repairs.

The health system was picked as one of 22 locations around the United States to be a training site for the da Vinci Robotic Mentor Program. Over the past two years, Lima Memorial has performed around 250 hernia repairs using the surgical robot, which makes a smaller incision and is less invasive than the old way of repairing hernias.

Doctor Heffner says that medical personnel from Ohio and Michigan have already stopped by Lima Memorial to check out what they are doing with the robotic hernia repairs.
